What Is an M3U List?

If you are new to cord-cutting, technical terms can be confusing. Let's explore exactly what is an M3U list and how it delivers television to your screen.

Understanding What Is an M3U List

An M3U list is essentially a simple text file that contains the internet addresses (URLs) of video streams. Instead of pointing to a website, it points to a live broadcast server. When you load this file into a media player, the software reads the addresses and connects to the video feeds. To handle massive lists containing thousands of these URLs smoothly, you need an advanced application. IBO Player Pro is our top choice because it parses these massive text files in seconds, organizing them into a beautiful, easy-to-read channel guide.
